I will now bless you with the following heartfelt post from someone processing recent life choices over a bowl of soup.
Why does setting healthy boundaries with family members feel exactly like how cauliflower smells?
Hear me out.
It’s uncomfortable, a little awkward, kinda pungent at first… and makes you question whether you should open a window, spray the entire room with Febreze, or just run away.
Just like cauliflower releases sulfur compounds (yep, it’s sulfur, the same stuff behind rotten eggs, farts, and rotting trash… that’s actually what Google says, I looked it up), breaking ties or creating space from people who don’t have your best interest at heart really stinks at first, but it is something good for you.
Boundaries protect your energy, your peace, and your mental health. And eating stinky cauliflower gives us vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants.
So, it might stink in the moment… but damn if it isn’t worth it in the end. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself when I feel like crying.
This creamy cauliflower chicken soup rocks, though! I may actually lick the bowl.
Who are we kidding? I’m definitely gonna lick the bowl.
Yeah… I’m going to be just fine.
(Proceeds to lick the bowl.)
